Dear friends, we have to inform you that for reasons beyond our control, the XII International Platonov Arts festival will not take place this year. This decision was made by the festival founders. Holding such a large-scale event in the current conditions does not appear possible. However, in the autumn, the directorate of the Platonov Arts festival will still present a special event.
For all those who have been waiting for the festival, we will be happy to hold showings of the performance " Brothers Karamazov" by the Maly Drama Theatre - Theatre of Europe directed by Lev Dodin. New dates are being discussed with the theatre and we will be ready to announce them soon.
The directorate of the Platonov Arts festival did everything possible to ensure that this year the festival would be held on a full scale. Performers from nine countries were supposed to come to Voronezh in September: Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, South Africa. Some foreign artists were to perform in our country for the first time. Among the Russian participants, theatres and musicians from 10 cities were confirmed: Almetyevsk, Voronezh, Izhevsk, Kazan, Moscow, Novokuibyshevsk, Perm, St. Petersburg, Serov, Yaroslavl. Literature, exhibition and "Voronezh Case" programmes were composed.
Ilya Skripnikov, Acting Director of the Platonov Arts festival, addressed the audience, participants and partners of the festival: "Over the years of its existence, the Platonov Arts festival has become one of the most prominent, large-scale and influential forums in Russia. Every year, the festival days were marked by the atmosphere of a real holiday of art. Forum spectators had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the best artists from different countries and feel their involvement in global art. Platonov Arts festival completed its mission even in difficult pandemic years. It was the only festival in our country held despite the restrictions. This year the forum has been cancelled, but Platonov Arts festival team continues its work.
We are grateful to all our partners and participants of the festival, those, who despite everything, were ready to come to the festival. The Voronezh audience will definitely see the festival taking place in the future. We have great respect for our audience, with whom every year we share the joy of the beauty and significance of what is happening at the festival, and we will be glad to see them at the special Platonov Arts festival event. We hope for your understanding and support. See you at the XII International Platonov Arts festival in 2023."
