Changes in the programme of the Platonov Arts Festival

There has been changes to the summer programme of the XII International Platonov Arts Festival. The pianist Boris Berezovsky will perform at the forum instead of the previously announced violinist Shlomo Mintz, and the performance "Weapon of Hearts" by the St. Petersburg Youth Theatre on the Fontanka will be shown in September.

On June 8th, the Voronezh Concert Hall will host a concert with the participation of the outstanding virtuoso pianist Boris Berezovsky. He will perform instead of the previously announced violinist Shlomo Mintz. In the first part, Boris Berezovsky will play solo works by Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, as well as Bach, Mendelssohn and Kreisler, arranged by Rachmaninov. In the second part of the evening, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 for Piano and Orchestra will be performed by the pianist, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Voronezh Concert Hall (conducted by Yuri Androsov).

Boris Berezovsky is one of the most sought-after performers in the world. He graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory (class of Eliso Virsaladze), took private lessons from Alexander Satz. In 1988, at the age of 19, he made his successful debut at London Wigmore Hall, and in 1990 he was awarded a golden medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

The pianist regularly performs with the best orchestras and collaborates with famous musicians. Among the venues where his solo concerts were held are the Berliner Philharmonie, the Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw, the London Royal Festival Hall, the Champs-Elysées Theatre in Paris, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, the Megaron Hall in Athens, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.

Boris Berezovsky is a participant of the largest international music festivals in Russia, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia, Japan, and the USA. His extensive discography includes about 40 solo and ensemble CDs and DVDs, recorded on such well-known labels as Teldec and Mirare/Harmonia Mundi.

The viewers who have bought tickets to the performance of Shlomo Mintz will not need to exchange tickets to attend the concert of Boris Berezovsky.

Due to the technical adaptation of the performance "Weapon of Hearts" by St. Petersburg Youth Theatre on the Fontanka, its showings, scheduled for June 6th and 7th, on the big stage of the Voronezh Academic Drama Theatre named after A.Koltsov are impossible. The production will be presented on another stage in September. Due to the change in venue, viewers who have purchased tickets to the performance will need to issue a refund and purchase new tickets to the September showings when they go on sale. If the purchase was made through the websites platonovfest.com or Kassir.ru, the money will be returned automatically.
