End of the festival’s theatre programme

The theatrical program of the 15th Platonov Arts Festival concluded with a production by the legendary Evgeny Vakhtangov Theatre — Pushkin’s Tales.
This play is about fate and choice, about life and death, about love that can be quiet, fateful, impossible — and still stronger than time. Pushkin’s plots come to life on stage in a special theatrical intonation: subtle, piercing, full of inner tension and beauty.
Our photographer attended a rehearsal and saw what is usually hidden from the audience: actors’ concentration before going on stage, final touches to their characters, quick glances, movement in the half-light, silence from which the performance is born.
The magic of theatre is in the black-and-white photographs: stripped of excess detail, leaving only light, shadow, faces, and an atmosphere of expectation.

Today is the last performance of Pushkin’s Tales in Voronezh as part of the Platonov Festival. Don’t miss the chance to see the play that closes this year’s theatre programme.
