Fro: between love and life

At the Platonov Festival, performances of the play Fro by the Krasnodar Academic Drama Theatre named after Maxim Gorky took place. Director Filipp Gurevich, twice nominated for the «Golden Mask» award, turned the auditorium into a space of an endless train station and made the viewers witnesses to a piercing story.
Filipp Gurevich:
«It was important for me to create the sense of waiting in this station, the heroine’s longing inside the vast hall, and people who find it very difficult to communicate with one another.»
At the center of the station universe is the young Fro, whose soul flutters between love, longing, and the inability to be heard.
Anastasia Dovbysh, who plays the lead role:
«My heroine is very sensual, very honest… You end up misunderstood by the world. You cannot accept reality, but at the same time you cannot fight it.»
The play Fro has appeared on festival bills more than once: directors repeatedly return to Platonov’s story, finding new stage interpretations. This production, according to Voronezh residents, became one of the most unusual and touching approaches to the text.
«I never suspected there could be so much love in Platonov," one audience member shared.
We thank the Krasnodar Drama Theatre named after Gorky for an honest and moving encounter with Platonov. Such productions remain in the heart.
