The third day of the festival was dedicated to Argentinean culture. The first showings of the performance "Wild Tango" by the Germán Cornejo Company took place at the Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The performance of Germán Cornejo, one of the best choreographers and tango dancers in the world, introduced the audience of the festival to the history of dance from its origins, when men danced with each other, competing for a lady, to cutting-adge forms, which are an explosive cocktail of tango, urban dance, malambo, contemporary and circus.
In the park near the Oldenburg Palace, a concert of the Quinteto Astor Piazzolla was held, which became their first performance in Russia. The collective was founded by the composer's widow Laura Escalada Piazzolla. It brought together virtuoso soloists who shared the aesthetic views of the maestro and were creatively formed under his influence. Over the 25 years of its existence, the Astor Piazzolla Quintet has toured extensively, won the recognition of professionals and received important international awards, such as the Latin Grammy for Best Tango Album (2019).
In Ramon, the collective performed the works of Astor Piazzolla, revealing the composer's heritage from a new angle. "We always approach the formation of the repertoire very carefully," said the artistic director of the Quintet, Julian Vat. - A feature of our approach is that we choose lesser-known compositions that we found while studying the work of Astor Piazzolla. However, the programme of the concert in Ramon also includes popular works by the composer."
