The name of the laureate of the Platonov award 2024 in the field of literature and art has been announced. The award was given to Natalia Kornienko, a literary critic, head of the Platonov group of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science of the Institute of World Literature named after A.M. Gorky and one of the most respected researchers of Andrey Platonov's work.
On April 9th, the Governor of the Voronezh Region Alexander Gusev held a meeting of the Platonov Award Council, during which this year’s laureate was selected from several candidates by majority vote. The Platonov award is given annually to Russian or foreign literary and artistic figures for their significant contribution to the cultural heritage of the Russian Federation, for creation of outstanding works of literature, theatre, music, visual arts. The award’s monetary equivalent is 1,000,000 rubles.
Natalia Kornienko is a chief researcher at the Institute of World Literature named after A.M. Gorky, a specialist in the history of Russian literature of the 20th century, textual criticism and source studies, and the author of more than 400 scientific publications. The main activity of the Platonov group, which she heads, is related to the study of the writer’s archive and the preparation of his collected works.
