The autumn programme of the XII International Platonov Arts Festival, which took place from September 2nd to October 2nd, 2023, has finished. Voronezh residents and guests of the city saw drama performances of famous theatres, as well as chamber concerts of virtuoso musicians. About 4 thousand people in total attended the festival events.
The theatre programme will long be remembered by the audience for the bright and touching productions of the theatres from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yerevan. Russian Academic Youth Theatre showed a performance based on the novel by Alexey Varlamov "My Soul Pavel", "Pyotr Fomenko Workshop Theatre" (Moscow) presented "Doctor Zhivago" based on the novel of the same name by Boris Pasternak, and the Nationwide Theatre "Hamazgain" named after Sos Sargsyan from Yerevan, brought five short stories by O. Henry "... and again Spring."
St. Petersburg Youth Theatre on the Fontanka showed the performance "Weapon of Hearts" dedicated to the work of Andrey Platonov. It is based on the writer's film script "The Ivanov Family."
Artists from Serbia, Azerbaijan and Russia participated in the music programme. The festival opened with the concert of the Serbian musicians Nemanja Stanković (cello) and Maja Mihić (piano), who performed not only classical pieces by world most renowned composers, but also works by contemporary authors. Then the Moscow Chamber Orchestra "Musica Viva" performed on the stage of the Philharmonic Hall. They presented an exclusive programme - ancient baroque and 20th-century music.
One of the best young Russian pianists Daniel Kharitonov and the Voronezh Academic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Igor Verbitsky performed works by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Igor Stravinsky. Together with the Azerbaijani virtuoso violinist Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev, Daniel Kharitonov presented a unique programme, which included Sergei Prokofiev, Claude Debussy, Johannes Brahms and a Turkish composer Fazil Sai.
The last event of the autumn programme of the XII Platonov ArtsFestival was the performance of the Ensemble of soloists of the Russian National Orchestra "Camerata RNO" An important feature of the group is the performance of even significant pieces of composition without the participation of a conductor. Voronezh residents enjoyed the evening of exquisite chamber music with works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Wagner and Bohuslav Martinů
