The festival theatre programme has been concluded

The theatre programme of the autumn part of the XII International Platonov Arts Festival has been concluded. Collectives from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yerevan took part in it. About 3,000 people attended the performances.

On September 3rd and 4th, the Voronezh Concert Hall hosted showings of the Russian Academic Youth Theatre’s production, based on Alexey Varlamov’s novel "My Soul Pavel." The performance was directed by Alexei Borodin, the play was adapted by Polina Babushkina. Spectators were put in the early 1980s, during the time of the traditional trip "to cultivate the potato field". It was on the collective farm field that a seventeen-year-old student Pavel Nepomiluev grew up along with his classmates.

On September 9th and 10th, Voronezh residents saw a five-hour performance based on Boris Pasternak's novel "Doctor Zhivago" staged by the director of the "Pyotr Fomenko Workshop Theatre" (Moscow), Yevgeni Kamenkovich. The main parts were played by Ivan Vakulenko, Olga Bodrova, Yekaterina Smirnova, Yury Titov and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Polina Kutepova. The creators of the performance showed the audience a difficult time for the Russian people, mixing history and poetry of the Silver Age. Together with the heroes, the audience cried and laughed, experiencing a turning point in the era.

There were also showings of the production "Weapon of Hearts" by the St. Petersburg Youth Theatre on the Fontanka, directed by Yuri Tsurkanu on the stage of the Voronezh Concert Hall on September 16th and 17th. The performance is based on Andrey Platonov’s film script "The Ivanov Family," written in 1945. The main characters of the performance are people whose family union is on the verge of collapse during the war. But the power of love helps them overcome difficult trials. The main parts were performed by: Vladimir Maslakov, Daria Vershinina, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Barkovsky, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Regina Schukina and others.

The audience also saw the performance "... and again Spring" of the Nationwide Theatre "Hamazgain" named after Sos Sargsyan from Yerevan on September 21st and 22nd at the Drama Theatre named after A. Koltsov. The director Narine Grigoryan staged five short stories by O. Henry, which succeed each other like the seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter, and again spring... Humorously written stories about love made Voronezh residents laugh and marvel at the crazy exploits of the performance’s characters.
