The programme of the new music project of the Platonov Arts Festival - an open-air event "PIER" has been announced

On June 23rd at 5 p.m. a new project of the Platonov Arts Festival called "PIER" will take place. This is a music open-air event featuring modern Russian bands, aimed primarily at a young audience. The concert will take place at the pier of the Petrovskaya Naberezhnaya and will bring together artists from Rostov-on-Don, Ivanovo, Moscow, Makhachkala and Kaspiysk.

Line-up of the "PIER" concert:

neee, ti shto

Makhachkala / Kaspiysk

"neee, ti shto" is the first thought that comes to mind of the listeners when getting acquainted with the work of the band of the same name, because their music is completely atypical for Dagestan. Love for Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, rap avant-garde MF Doom and modern British jazzmen Kamaal Williams and Shabaka Hutchings, as well as street groove, slang words and a scattering of local references in the texts – all this is reflected in the music of the distinctive duo – Ramazan Mallaev and Rasul Mahaliev.

"Full of drive, free, aesthetic, synchronised with European trends, the "neee, ti shto" compositions refute stereotypes about what kind of pop music can arise in the Caucasus and in Russia in general." Denis Boyarinov, "Snob"

drugdeejeya

Moscow

An almost classic jazz line-up with two MCs and female vocals, performing live, elastic, peculiar hip-hop. Their music is inspired by the work of electronic producer Bonobo, rapper Mos Def and saxophonist John Coltrane, and unexpected psychedelic lyrics with references to Daniil Kharms, Nikolay Gumilyov and Varlam Shalamov transport them to a strange, but very warm and cosy universe.

Leto v gorode

Rostov-on-Don

A project by Vladislav Parshin (founder of the Motorama and Utro bands), created in 2012. Stylistically, this band is closer to the electronic offshoot of new wave with a predominant synth sound, bass guitar, synthetic strings and a drum machine. Musical avant-garde and futurism complement the dreamy and fantasy lyrics.

VESCH

Ivanovo

A music band and theatre troupe at the same time, founded by Anton Komarov and Anastasia Klimova against the background of immersion in the aesthetics of futurism, Dadaism and the creativity of the art groups "Pop Mechanics" and "New Artists". Their caustic and sarcastic music balances between punk, jazz and Soviet songs, and the lyrics combine an everyday stream of content (from news on social networks to advertising and gossip), but turned inside out and taken to the extreme of absurdity.

"It’s hard not to compare VESCH to Kolibri, but on the "Spros i predlozhenie" EP their sound is more reminiscent of early St. Vincent – the vocals of frontwoman Anastasia Klimova especially stand out." The Village
