From May 30 to June 28, 2026 Voronezh will host the XV International Platonov Arts Festival.
The International Platonov Arts Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary — a major milestone in Voronezh’s cultural life. Since its founding in 2011, the festival has become a hallmark of the region and one of the key platforms for artistic dialogue inspired by the legacy of 20th-century writer Andrey Platonov.
Over 15 years, Voronezh has welcomed guests from more than 60 countries worldwide. Hundreds of performances, concerts, and exhibitions have been presented across various venues, drawing over 500,000 spectators. The forum evolves and grows while steadfastly pursuing its main goal: to open up the vast world of art to Voronezh and introduce Voronezh to the world.
Today, a press conference dedicated to announcing the programme of the XV Platonov Arts Festival was held in the studio of the festival’s general media partner, VESTI–VORONEZH. Speakers included the Festival Head Yuri Zaitsev and the creators of the performance Flower on the Earth, Irina Krivorukova and Ivan Zaslavets.
The XV festival features a programme that traditionally encompasses several spheres: theatre, music, exhibitions, and literature. Audiences can look forward to classical and contemporary plays, concerts of academic and experimental music, a two-day street theatre festival in Alye Parusa Park, open-air events in scenic locations like the White Well chalk quarry and the park of the Oldenburg Palace complex; two exhibitions blending artistic traditions and innovations, special festival projects. The literary programme includes a three-day book fair, a relay reading of Andrey Platonov’s creations, and meet-the-writer events.
The heart of the festival is the Platonov programme, which brings together art, science, and Platonov’s word. For many years, an initiative group of researchers studying the writer’s work-led by Natalia Korniyenko, a renowned literary scholar and head of the Platonov Group at the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences-has collaborated with the Festival. Every year, the group presents new issues of specialized scientific publications, holds meetings and conferences. This year’s anniversary festival will uphold the tradition.
XV Platonov Arts Festival is not only a major cultural phenomenon. It is, first and foremost, an ode to arts, which intertwines the past and the present, the local and the global. It’s here to remind us that culture doesn’t know borders, that Andrey Platonov’s work, his philosophical profoundness, his humanity, his unique language, all of this keeps fueling the spring of consciousness for the new generations to come.
