The opening of Platonov Arts Festival main program: the concert of Mikhail Pletnev, one of the most outstanding musicians of our times, the laureate of the Platonov Award! This is a unique event in the Russian musical life!

At the age of 16 Pletnev was the winner of the International Youth Piano Competition in Paris. When he was only 21, he won the Gold Medal and First Prize at the VI International Tchaikovsky Competition. Recognized worldwide he performed with famous orchestras including Philharmonic orchestras in Berlin, London, Munich, Israel, the Czech Republic; Symphony orchestras of San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Berlin; French National Orchestra and many others. The audience and colleagues admire his perfect technique, sophisticated sense of style, fresh musical interpretations. 


Pletnev’s recordings of virtuoso performances of Beethoven, Grieg, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Chopin have earned numerous prestigious prizes including EMI, Deutsche Grammophon and GRAMMY. For his contributions to the artistic life Mikhail Pletnev was awarded the Presidential Prize of the Russian Federation, State Prize of the Russian Federation, Russian Independent Award "Triumph", European Cultural Award and Platonov Award in Literature and Art.

Maestro will play the piano specially brought to Voronezh.
