They could change findings of avant-garde according to their individualities. A special place in the exhibition takes paintings and graphics of Natalia Goncharova - “Amazon of Russian avant-garde” (as called her contemporaries). Natalia, having powerful individuality, based her cubofuturistic works upon traditions of folk medieval art. Marc Chagall, been influenced by futurism and surrealism, doesn’t break with traditional painting and combines in his works stylistics of neo-primitivism and expressionism. There are also other leaders of “leftist” art, whose works will be presented in the exhibition: Mikhail Le Dantu, Varvara Stepanova, Adolf Milman, Vasiliy Chekrygin, Lyubov Popova etc.
For many years government has been against avant-garde art, that’s why most of works featured in the exhibition wasn’t shown and stored in funds over the whole country. Platonov Arts Festival gathers together all these masterpieces. All together they will present a powerful image of what an important and large-scale phenomenon Russian avant-garde was.
