The Raft of the Medusa

Voronezh Chamber Theatre
Choreographer - Pavel Glukhov
The premiere of the performance!
Duration - 1 hour 10 minutes without intermission.
This is the second major dance performance by Pavel Glukhov on the stage of the Voronezh Chamber Theatre. This time one of the most talented young choreographers in Russia, a nominee for the Golden Mask and a laureate for the best work of a choreographer of the STD award of the Russian Federation refers to the painting by a French artist Theodore Gericault. It was first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1819 and subsequently became the symbol of romanticism in painting.
"For me, the Raft of the Medusa is a model of society in a miniature. In the performance, we try to analyse this model, we work with various archetypes of personality. Each person here, as in real society, plays a role: someone is strong, someone is weak, someone is cunning, and someone is simple. How do they manifest themselves? Where is the line between a man and an animal? What character traits begin to manifest themselves in the face of a danger? We are now investigating these questions, investigating human nature, collecting material, and we will try to show all our answers and findings in the performance", says the choreographer.
