In 2023, for the first time in Russian, the Rosebud publishing house published a book by Max Friedländer (1867-1958), dedicated to the history of the Dutch painting and the problems of artistic expertise. More than a hundred years have passed since its first edition. In his lecture, the translator of the book, Kirill Svetlyakov, will tell you what has changed since then in the perception of the art of Jan van Eyck, Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel and other great masters, and how the experience of Max Friedländer remains in demand to the present day.

Kirill Svetlyakov is a curator, lecturer, candidate of art criticism. In 2010-2016, he was the head of the department of the latest trends in the State Tretyakov Gallery. Since 2016, he has been the chief specialist in contemporary art of the State Tretyakov Gallery's management department. He is the laureate of the Sergey Kuryokhin Award in the nomination "Best curatorial project" for the exhibition "Hostages of the Void", held as part of the IV Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2011), as well as the "Innovation-2021" award for the project "Space Age Prometheus".
