The first exhibition of the "Jack of Diamonds" circle of artists, which opened in 1910, was marked by neo-primitivism. Later, other trends emerged when the aesthetics of the primitive condition were supplemented by impressions from the art of the Early Italian Renaissance. The lecture is dedicated to the Italian travels of Robert Falk, as well as Ilya Mashkov, Pyotr Konchalovsky and the change of priorities in the art of the early Russian avant-garde.
