An audio journey through texts iconic to Russian culture. Pushkin, Shukshin, Bulgakov, and Platonov lure the audience into a multi-layered mirage, revealing themselves not through words, but through the interplay of voices, rustlings, sensations of summer days, and mysterious misty nights. The soundscapes in this performance are created using unique old-time instruments and vintage noise makers. This method of sound reproduction references the way films were accompanied in the 1930s, before film editing existed: actors and orchestra would gather at the microphone to create a parallel world of sounds and voices alongside the picture. In this production, however, the world of sound emerges not from a single plane, but from all directions, in a 3D format.
